my take on scrapbooking for a change..



It was International Scrapbooking Day yesterday so last night I had a go at making some scrapbooking layouts. I take loads of photos but then never print them out so at least my sons can look at these now especially the older photos of a wild time before kids!



Seeking calm in stormy seas

Little wood panel painted with bright colours as we have had lovely weather this week..this painting deals with the issues of having focus, peace and a belief in a higher power represented by the birds feathers. ( Update on my dad..he has just rang to say he is coming out of hospital as he had to be admitted again in a lot of pain..so thanks for all your positive messages in last weeks post).

Had a go at hexagonal paper piecing again for the craftsy block of the month..quite like doing these.

bit of spring at last..

Healing in Blue

It has been a difficult week as my dad has been in hospital so I painted this painting as a catharsis...its influenced by my love of yoga and the power of positive thinking

Chakra Light

Decided to paint over an old large canvas and came up with this face.  I have been recently going to a great yoga class and when I look at this painting it helps me to focus and calms me. Whenever I relax in yoga I see white light hence the title of this piece..

.its been very spring like today so after the gym and housework had a bit of time in the sun to do a bit of relaxing crochet..hope this weather stays as its certainly mood uplifting

Blackbird..

Lots of blackbirds in my garden and I love listening to their song as well as The Beatles Blackbird too...
"blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly..."

Have been playing around with clay over the past few days and decided to alter an accordion type book that I have had for awhile

I will probably add photos of our visits to the park to the inside tags and decorate it further

the colours I have used are definitely influenced by the colours and textures I see when visiting our favourite parks and woods

 

I have had this plaque for a long time and have used alcohol inks along with the clay to incorporate it into the book

Happy robin

Everyday I see this robin that comes to the bird feeder I have put on the conservatory....makes me happy when I see it so did a quick painting for Happy Paint Party Friday
The painting is made up of many layers of paint scratched into for lots of deep texture.

Happy Easter

Coots with Attitude
My son loves coming with me to feed the birds around various parks around Liverpool..then when we get home we learn all about them in our bird book..coots have white markings and moorehens have red. 

I made these Easter cakes with the help of my other son and came back 5 mins later to have one with a cup of tea and he had ate all the little eggs..ha ha!

Been playing around transferring images to clay..these are just from my epson so quite pleased with the result as they were just an experiment really

Made a quick collage for TMTA where the theme is butterflies.  We are having slightly warmer weather now but its still too cold for butterflies..have a good Easter holidays...

Calm in Chaos paintings

Been a bit of a chaotic week so have been doing some calming paintings.  I always find that painting even just for half an hour is so relaxing.  We havent had Spring yet so I have been painting it instead.  Hope you all have a lovely Easter holidays and remember the true meaning of Easter..new good beginnings...

Spring? & Wild stormy seas

Over at Sunday Postcard the challenge is butterflies.  I took this photo of the icicles on my conservatory this morning and have added butterflies to it and altered the size digitially

For week 3 of the Strathmore workshop we had to paint bright colours as a background then paint boats into it..this was quite difficult for me to do but I have had a go which is what its all about really ..learning to paint in a different way.

Quilts, daffodils and ATC

Finished my little quilt today using some lovely spring moda fabric..I love the way it has turned out and doesnt it look lovely next to my jug of daffodils

Made a quick spring like ATC for Crazy Amigo challenge which is weddings..added a bit of lace, sewing and 2 lovebirds.
