green pepper press challenge 21 wax rubbings

The challenge for the green pepper press this month is to do wax rubbings so I decided to have an arty day with my kids and we did some wax rubbings then painted over them with watered down paint. Whenever we have an arty day we hang it all up on an arty washing line in the conservatory. I love doing all my paint backgrounds with my kids as my 3yr old is at the age when he just experiments and is not into representative art like my older children are! So the next time you want to do backgrounds have a play with paint with your kids or remember what it was like to play with paint as a child!! I have some great Celtic paving stones so we did the rubbings off them onto copier paper and coffee filters.

Lorraine - thanks for joining in the rubbing crusade and sharing your arty adventure with the kids. A great reminder to be critic-free and play like a child. Love seeing the papers hanging like that. Coffee filters - that's a good tip!!

The papers hanging on the line remind me of Tibetan Prayer Flags. I love it! Great colors. My son and I had fun with playing with this technique.

That clothes line is a work of art in itself ! How wonderful that you share the joys of "messy" creation with your children ! Your post made me think of one of my favorite quotes from Picasso : "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." Here's to honoring the child artists in all of us !
Cheers,
Kim

Oboyoboy! Lusciousness abounds here - in the colors and the line of "flags' perhaps they can stay that way. More inspiration! - thanks

I'm loving that so many are including their kids in these art projects! I'm sure it will help them to grow up being or at least supporting and understanding art...

Have a great hair day! Becci

Absolutely! I have some paper that I got from the kids at my grandson's elementary school. Rubbings and reliefs, etc. They are some of my favorites.
I like your artwork very much.

Lorraine, I love your colorful washing line!
I work with kids and me too,I love the way they scribble and paint. We, grown-ups can never do it in the same spontaneous way.

I've done a lot of things like that with my own kids when they were small and now my daughter is going to an art-school...

greetings
