Stamps and Silk painting..

I wanted to have a go at silk painting as soon as I saw these little bird and heart stamps from the Artistic Stamper. They are designed by Hels Sheridan and are just perfect for the outlines needed for silk painting. Simply stamp onto silk using a pale colour dye ink then fill outline in with gutta making sure there are no gaps. When dry fill the centre with silk paints. To get the marbled background shown here just sprinkle some rock salt on to the wet silk paint and it makes this gorgeous marbled pattern. Here I have made a little quilt square but silk painting would make lovely cards.

Lovely silk painted piece, never tried it but I do have a set of silk paints but no gutta ! They are sort of waiting in the wings for an airing.

Oh these stamps are adorable as is this pillow. You have such talent with fabric, Lorraine, and I should know because I study it each and every day as I reach for my glasses.

very interesting! The Liquitex acrylic inks work great on silk too - I have to try that rock salt technique!
