carnival collage bag (three muses odd couple)
I wanted to get back to getting messy and layered again. This bag is made out of an old pet food bag, sewing patterns, brown envelopes, paint, inks, stamps, cemerony free image and threads. I was getting quite mad today as it wouldnt sew on my machine then I realised with all the layers the needle wouldnt go through!! I have sewed it instead with crochet thread..a good tip is to use the top of a sauce bottle as a thimble! The challenge over at three muses this week is odd couple well I think this couple look rather odd dressed for the carnival....

Not fun when the sewing machine won't cooperate. I have cursed mine for that very reason. Although, the
crochet sewing by hand seems to do something that makes it all the more charming. xox Corrine
glad you're feeling well and back on track with your creativity
- love the bag now I know what to get you for christmas - a thimble
Fabulous use of materials I must say - this is a stunning work of art Lorraine. It all goes together so perfectly!
Lorraine...I love the rustic look (if that's the word) for that bag. It makes me think of a bag you would see on a trek somewhere...very earthy..
I understand your dilemma about the sewing machine. :o) I have an old all-steel sewing machine and it's the only thing with enough power to go through lots of heavy layers. Modern machines are mostly plastic. And then you have to have a very heavy duty needle. Sometimes sewing by hand is the only solution..but I think your blanket stitch edging adds to the effect. Necessity really is the 'mother of invention'. :o) It looks great!

If you would have tossed the SM out the window, you would have probably hurt your arms! This is beautiful!
Love your bag and the crafting techniques you have used in its making !!
I love messy! Your background is great, the crochet hand sewing is a super idea, and the overall effect is perfect for your odd couple. Thanks so much for participating in our challenge this week!
This is fabulous - so creative!
Absolutely gorgeous Lorraine... love all those layers and the image you have used... great tip with the thimble too :)))

As always when I see artwork like this I am in awe. Fantastic piece Lorraine.
This is awesome - I love all the layers - I will have to get myself a pet - just for the food bag you understand. The chicken food paper sacks last for months so a long before I can even think of altering them
The only things I am altering at the moment are pastry into sausage rolls and mince pies etc!
Have a wonderful Christmas. I've been visiting but not been able to leave comments
Whatever happened to thimbles? Thanks for your advice. I am now off to find a sauce bottle top that fits!! Lorraine, your carnival couple bag is scrumptious and superb in every way. I love the richness of the textures and the wonderful colours. Great work.
