Sheer Dream (Fibre Arts Mixed Media Challenge)

Very late last night I suddenly had an idea of what I wanted to make for this months "sheer" challenge for FAMM. I have layered an old book page under a sunflower transparency then added lots of layers of burnt black lutradur, burnt needlefelted chiffon and burnt lace on top to create lots of dimension and texture. The word dream is stamped onto bondaweb then also distressed slightly with my fabric master heat tool. Be sure to check out the other entries at Fibre arts and mixed media...its great to work with fabric again!

Scrapbook finished...little bag and sad film..Sa Som I Himmelen.

Tonight I finished my scrapbook about our Norway holiday..I dont do much scrapbooking but quite enjoyed making this one though so must make time for more scrapbooking I think..I dont like sharing photos of my sons so here is a layout featuring me enjoying knitting my Norwegian wood bag. Talking of bags I recently bought a felt bag kit from TK Maxx and have enjoyed making this today as it took my mind off my backache. Last week I watched a great Swedish movie called Sa Som I Himmelen (As it is in Heaven)..it is a fantastic though very sad film which I highly recommend if you see a copy in the shops. It is currently being watched by members of the choir my husband sings in as it is a film about the power of music.

I found some feathers on my desk so added them to the background along with lots of stamped images all from Scrollswork. I like this stamped witch image as she looks very elegant. Norwegian Wood bag

Today I took my kids to the cheshire ice cream farm and as they had a mad time running round the play barn I had time to finish my bag. Tonight my youngest helped me to drill holes in the buttons that my husband helped me cut out of some wood from Norway. Every time I look at this bag I will remember knitting it on the verandah overlooking the beautiful nature reserve at Sven & Kristins house in Spongdal, Norway and what a wonderful holiday we had with their family. I wanted it to have wood buttons to remind me of the great time we all had helping chop some wood and make it into firewood bags to sell. I couldnt help the title..after all I am from Liverpool and it is such a beautiful peaceful song..I bet you are all humming it now!

Little books, potato prints & marbury swans (lots to do challenge beads)

I bought grungepaper a while ago but have never really used it but it was ideal for these little stamped books. I have used a tiny journal book stamp from Scrollswork and stamped onto spray dyed grungepaper. I have added some threads, beads and charms. The theme over at lots to do this week is beads so be sure to check out the other entries.

We went to Marbury Park today and had a lovely walk looking at the swans & cygnets on the mere, the squirrels, cows grazing and lovely wildflower meadows..such a lovely park and with a playground to keep my sons happy!

Over at UK Stampers Effie suggested we use potatoes to stamp with...so this afternoon my 5yr old made this lovely picture using a fish stamp I carved for him....its looks very batik like doesnt it and I think he has done a marvellous job!

knitting and scrapbooking....

Thought I would show some photos of projects I am working on at the moment. I started knitting this bag whilst I was in Norway....it was so relaxing knitting this while watching the lovely scenery. The piece of wood is from when my husband and sons helped to chop some logs to pack them into bags of firewood to sell..I am hoping to try and make some buttons from it and tie them randomly onto the loose threads of wool. I am in the middle of scrapbooking the Norway photos and I have been using some pagemaps to help me with the layouts...so if your stuck with scrapbooking these pagemaps are a real help.

Fantastic Norway...

Just got back today from my marvellous holiday in Norway. We had fantastic weather and this photo shows the view from the balcony where I practised my yoga every morning and did knitting most of the day....so lovely to relax while my sons played with the family we were staying with. I have ate reindeer, moose and even tried a little bit of whale! I made some boller which is a type of Norsk cake bread and my 7yr old caught a 1.5kg cod on his first fishing trip. The last night my sons even camped out in a teepee and I was very proud of myself for swimming in the freezing cold waters of a fjord. Will post lots of photos here soon ..such a beautiful country.
