Words journal page and lacy pretty cards..

Two of my sons are off school now with the cold bug and are sitting under the duvet eating toast watching tv..so made some pretty lacy cards this morning with some stamps I had forgotten about....in between the shouts of "mum, mummm"!

Here is another journal page for the milliande group..for this one we were required to use the theme crosswords...wonder what todays prompt will be? I am enjoying the self discipline of journalling every day as I feel that I have achieved something daily just for me. I often get asked how do you fit it all in with a busy family life etc. Well I tend to look at a prompt around 2.30pm when milliande posts it up then think about it on the way to the school run. In between doing the dinner for the kids I will do little bits on the page eg. painting the background and that can be drying. I have got several kitchen timers everywhere so I dont burn the dinner!! I dont really watch tv except for certain programmes on the iplayer and then I am always drawing or something. ....so how do you fit it all in?

I have really enjoyed reading all your replies to my question.. we are a busy lot arent we..."superwomen"!

With difficulty :)

I have a full time job, a very busy social life, plus 3 kids, but I’m still finding time to do a little bit each day. I won’t always finish what I’m working on in a single day but I go back to my table often and add bits throughout the evening, etc.

Like you, I don’t watch much telly, I think that’s the main thing that gives me extra time. Most of my ‘making stuff’ gets done during the week after my youngest has gone to bed, as by then the two big kids will be out or in their room and I’m on my own (only see my other half at weekends) so there’s nobody to stop me playing and point out I should be hoovering instead :)

Here’s a cool coincidence – 2 new blog posts popped up in my RSS reader simultaneously, one was this one (yours), the other was this post from Wendy Vecchi: http://studio490art.blogspot.com/2011/01/set-day-3.html

Look how similar her gridded stamp design is to your art journal page!

very strange..I used the tops of a pen for my stamped design in the grids..the rest is stuff cut from the newspapaers and watered down inks along with fine black markers etc

Just love your word journal page and the lacy cards. You sure have been busy. I wish I could be more disciplined, but I am not. I think because I once had a very busy life, with raising children and working full time. Now it is my time and I goof off and before I know it, the day is almost done. I also am not a TV person, but have found I am addicted to blogging!!! Have a great day!

Well, retirement helps! The hardest thing is the discipline when every day is a day off. I've been trying to make sure that I get my exercise in the mornings otherwise I never seem to get to it later.
I'm still chief cook and bottle washer here so I mostly am creating in the afternoons, before breakfast is my most solid computer time.
I don't seem to get much done after dark,

It was funny that when I was working I definitely made the most of my time off to get things made for my business.

It's hard for me to approach my art as a job and I'm not sure that I want to.

xoxo Kim

Amazing that you fit it all in and with little ones home sick! Love that crosswords prompt. Full time job but at home, lots of flex, but still don't do as much as I would like. 5 dogs, like toddlers in and out and in and out.
Good for you. xox Corrine

Great journal page for the Milliande group! Thanks for sharing how you fit it all in! I have 2 kids, 2 dogs and a hubby and work part time with most of my work done from home, which I am very disiplined about, I'm just not as disiplined with my art! I try to only work until lunchtime so I have a couple of hours for art before the kids get in, but normally just as I have sat down to be creative I will get a phonecall and have to do more work! In the evenings my son uses my craft room and computer for his homework so I can't normally get back in there until 8pm and by that time my mo-jo has left for the day!
